Riding Guide / Instructor

Kambaku is looking for a qualified Riding Guide to support our Horse Safari Business, train our horses and conduct pastoral training for our Riding Guide Trainees.

Tasks 

• Guiding groups with up to 6 guests in the bush savannah giving explanations about the wildlife in English and German (if possible)

• Prepairing and accompanying special riding activities for guests (e.g. bush breakfasts, sundowners, accompanying overnight stays in the Bush Camp) 

• Looking after guests also before and after wildlife activities, e.g. conversations at the lodge, at dinner-time, at the bar or fireplac 

• Responsibility of the horse safari business, e.g. selecting and checking cross-country courses, assignment of horses and riders (find the perfect match), preparation of horses for safari rides and riding lessons in the school

• Horse and Stable management (taking care of the well-being of our 20 horses; training (e.g. practise rides with young horses or Kambaku's ride guide trainees), working with the horses in the school; taking care of the equipment as well as the riding facilities, stables and yard)

• Riding lessons for guests and ride guide trainees in English and German (if possible)

Qualifications

• at least 1 year of professional experience, certificates in guiding, instructing and training of horses and riders, riding instructor licence, apprenticeship in horse riding, stable manager or similar qualifications

• Languages: English fluently, basic skills in German, French would be ideal

• Driving licence

• Personality: hard working, resilient and able to communicate with people from all walks of life, mentally stable, able to enjoy the isolation of the Namibian bush savannah

Trainee Hospitality Specialist

Trainee Field Guide

2 year vocational training

Kambaku Lodge is offering a student place to become a Field Guide with practical training in the Lodge and theoretical units in the Kambaku Hospitality College.

Tasks

• Learining to guide – either on foot or in safari vehicle – and explaining the fauna and flora of the bush savannah in English and German

• Learning to conduct wildlife courses with excersises, field classes and practical tuition as well as theory units on various topics and themes; prepairing and developing training materials like displays, hand-outs, presentations for the participants (find themes here: Kambaku Bush Training)

• Prepairing and accompanying special activities for guests (e.g. bush breakfasts, sundowners, accompanying overnight stays in the Bush Camp)

• Looking after guests after wildlife activities, e.g. conversations at the lodge, at dinner-time, at the bar or fireplace

• Accompanying and looking after guests as personal and field guide in multi-day stays at Kambaku's Safari Camp

• Looking after the equipment, prepairing and cleaning safari vehicles, maintaining hiking paths and look-outs

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification: school leaving qualification

• High motivitation

• Driving licence

• Languages: English, German and/or French advantageous

• Learn how to take care and look after guests before and after safari rides, e.g. conversations, dinner 

• Assisting and supporting the horse safari business, e.g. checking cross-country courses, tacking up horses for safari rides and riding lessons in the school

• Assisting the horse and stable management (taking care of the well-being of our 20 horses; learning to train horses and working horses in the school; taking care of and cleaning the equipment and the riding facilities, stables and yard)
 

Qualifications

• good horse care skills

• young and sporty

• enjoying riding, horses and experiencing nature

• Languages: English fluently, basic skills in German and French would be ideal

• Personality: hard working, resilient and able to communicate with people from all walks of life, mentally stable, able to enjoy the isolation of the Namibian bush savannah
